Coconuts

After trying out most of the new cuisines nearby, it was time to go the distance for a change of scenery, ambiance, and of course delicacies. So after work, Car, Mith, and Mark picked me up to get a taste of Coconuts in Palo Alto.

Coconuts is a famed Caribbean restaurant just off the "strip" in Stanford. Coconuts has gotten so popular that its a must for you to have a reservation if you plan to dine there. Luckily their reservation system uses convenient online technology so I was able to get us a table even if I just reserved a few hours before.

Despite our reservation, we had to wait for a bit for a table to be ready.
The wait however is truly worth it!

For Starters, Caribbean Guacamole with fried Plantain
This dish played with the extremes.. sweet and salty with a touch of heat.
The guacamole was different from the usual Mexican guacamole because of the slight heat it has.
The fried plantain was truly an unexpected favorite. Could be a sweeter variety though :D

A must try recommended by Mith and Car, Six Hour Braised Ox-Tail.
The meat simply falls of the bone even by just a slight touch of a fork and not to mention the amazing flavors the sauce has!

Jerk Chicken!
It may not look much but the different herbs and spices rubbed on the chicken gives the dish a delicious and unique tangy flavor.

Lamb Stew with Java Rice.
This was clearly the dish of the night All of us just couldn't get enough of it. The melt-in-your-mouth lamb and tropical spices..heavenly!

and for dessert.. Coconut Creme Brulee
Very light and delicate, just like a what Creme Brulee should be!

It was just too good that we had to order two!

Since a Caribbean cruise is still far from our plans, Caribbean cuisine may be just the next best thing if I could say so myself!
