Magnum Opus Fine Coffees

A crash course on coffee appreciation
After an deliciously unique lunch from the Girl + the Bull, the next stop of our BF food adventure was for coffee education and some dessert at Magnum Opus.

Another favorite hangout of my friends Abby and Drew, Magnum Opus is a far cry from you mainstream coffee shop franchise or chain for Magnum Opus boasts of a well curated line of coffee beans and with some freshly roasted at that very moment.

We were lucky enough to meet the talented man behind Magnum Opus, Jonathan Choi, with whom from the explanation of the origins of the beans and to the manner of brewing, you can immediately notice his passion towards his art of coffee.

A sample of the freshly ground coffee that we would be having today.

All of us opted to try a different brewing type.

By watching Jonathan at work, it seemed like such a very simple brewing process. However to our surprise, each process brought about a unique flavor to the beans with one process making the coffee taste more floral, another tasting very strong and dark, while another leaving just very subtle, bitter flavors on your tastebuds. It was amazing!

And for dessert..

Azure of the Gold

A delicate cake topped with a light but very tangy lemon custard.

Very strong, citrus-y sweet flavors that were a perfect balance to our coffees.

Wafflegato

Cold Vanilla Ice Cream drenched with hot, freshly brewed espresso.

This is the first time that I truly appreciated an affogato.

Apple Streudel

Warm and flaky, a deliciously sinful paring to our coffee.
I guess its not so bad since it has fruit lol

Thanks to Jonathan for our very warm welcome and to Abby and Drew for the awesome food adventure!
