UMU

It's all about the presentation!

Work meetings could get boring. Luckily, most of the partners and clients that I meet with share the same interest in food as I do, in which selecting the restaurant or choosing from the menu becomes one of the main agendas of the meeting!

For today, Japanese cuisine was at the top of the list and UMU was going to be today's battlefield.

Sashimi Nanasyumori

Impecable presentation! Instead of the usual sushi boat, a clean white platter made a perfect background for the chef's selection of fresh sashimi. Of course the smoke effect was a welcome addition!

Kuroge Wagyu Teppanyaki and Eringi

Fresh from Iberagi, Japan; A4 level wagyu slices are mildly seasoned with salt and whole red peppercorns, then perfectly grilled teppanyaki style.

Complimented by the Eringi, a sautéed blend of shitake, inoki, and sahimini mushrooms.

I have to say that at first I mistook the mushrooms to be cooked aglio olio style..but this was definitely a far cry from just garlic and oil. The mushrooms had the very deep, woodsy flavors which was very difficult for me to decipher what ingredients were used. But why knock on a good thing right?

Can never have too much macha!

Matcha ice cream served with hot matcha tea

Umu serves the best green tea ice cream in town! Some green tea ice creams tend to have a rather fishy after-taste but UMU does it very well with premium matcha, keeping things creamy, smooth and fishy-taste free!

So...why did we call for a meeting again?!
