Chocolate for breakfast

Breakfast meeting need not be boring!

After enjoying the breakfast buffet at Dusit, I capped of my meal by having some puto (steam rice cake) drenched in dark chocolate from the fondue fountain just to have something sweet after my already heavy meal.

Time to get down to business!

Mango Tree Bistro

Nightcap!

After enjoying a Korean feast, my sisters and I transferred venues to have some coffee..
With majority of the establishments in Greenbelt already full or either closed, we found ourselves at Mango Tree Bistro, who were gracious enough to have us as their last call customers!

While my sisters ordered coffee, I opted to be more adventurous and ordered a more refreshing choice, Thai Iced Tea!

Mango Tree hit it spot on by perfectly blending the tamarind and star anise flavor (traditional of Thai Iced tea) into a smooth, creamy concoction.

Friday Morning Meeting at Shang

One last meeting before the long weekend starts!

Although I really admire the attention to detail with the presentation of the coffee..
Edsa Shangrila's cappuccino was rather disappointing for it tasted a lot like heated milk with just the slightest coloring from the non-existent coffee..

The cookie was good though!

Hopefully Edsa Shangrila does something about this..

Let them eat cake!

After abstaining from cake for several months, my friend Raisa has finally completed her training and has actually won the top rank in her division of the ballroom competition she joined in Singapore just a few days ago.

So as soon as she got back, we immediately ran to the nearest cake shop to finally satisfy her craving which happened to be Bizu!

You can always depend on Bizu to serve the best French pastries at very affordable costs.

Our picks for the night were:

Blueberry Chiboust: Bizu's take on the classic cheesecake
The best.. just like how I remembered it to be!

Opera: classic sponge cake layered with coffee buttercream and dark chocolate ganache

Yoga: sponge cake layered with passion fruit, lemon, and yogurt custard
Very light and refreshing.. its name definitely suits it!

I guess we really had a bad craving for cake... hopefully we stop at 3 but who knows?

Congratulations again Raisa!

Chao Doa Helps

(photo courtesy of Cha Dao Tea Place)

I am for certain that no matter what happens, our nations people are always there willing to give a helping hand especially during instances like this.

Browsing through the social networking sites, I was amazed by how everyone was trying to do their part in helping out just to bring relief to those affected by these torrential rains. What really got my attention however was Cha Dao Tea Place's efforts in partnership with Enderun.

A really genius idea of Cha Dao for lending their sealing machines and providing their own cups to package cooked food so that they could be delivered faster and more conveniently those in need.

Of course anyone can take part in the relief efforts. From donating goods to your local ngos and nearby churches, to even as simple as tweeting information about what is happening right now. All these are helpful and very much appreciated.

There's just absolutely no excuse not to help!

Red and Purple Bread

Since staying in is the wisest choice while under this dreadful spell of heavy rains, my sister brought home a treat to keep me occupied as we wait for the rain to finally stop.

Another favorite from my childhood, these custard-filled breads (known before as pan de regla or pan de pula) always used to put a smile on my face when my yaya would buy me some after an afternoon at the park. There's was something with the bright red and vivid purple colors that made me think it was candy inside of bread but actually the custard's just made with eggs, milk, and food coloring.

Having these give me the warm fuzzies!

Upsize Wednesdays at Golden Spoon

Being sent home from work early, my sister and I braved the rain (luckily it was just drizzling by that time) for some frozen yogurt. Thankful it was Wednesday so we got to partake of Golden Spoon's Free Upsize deal every wednesday during this rainy season.

Trying to stay dry and enjoy my large cup of belgian chocolate and graham cracker froyo.

Hope all is well with you and your family!

Tita Linda's Personal "Barista"

Tita Linda's newly acquired toy, A DeLonghi Prima Donna S Deluxe Super-automatic Espresso Maker

Referred to by coffee aficionado's as super-automatic because the Prima Donna can brew a perfect cup of cappuccino, caffe latte, and even a latte macchiato, all with just a single click!

With a press of a button, the machine would grind, brew, and even froth up milk..all while you watch your cup being magically filled with goodness!

This was certainly the toy everyone wanted to play with!

Tita Isa's Seafood Bouillabaise

A long, ongoing tradition; our family always heads over to the Antolins' every first sunday for our monthly brunch. This gathering give our families a chance to step out of reality, chat, laugh, and bond; all while enjoying the best home-cooked meals imaginable!

So despite being a wet afternoon, we didn't let the weather rain on our parade as Tita Isa made the perfect rainy-weather food, Seafood Bouillabaisse!

Overflowing with a vide variety of seafood such as shrimp, clams, squid, and dory; Tita Isa made a special twist to this very rustic, Provencal dish my making things a little bit more spicy and peppery.

Definitely combats the melanochol-ic weather!

Kabayan

Memories of my childhood!

Kabayan, also considered Filipino Cupcakes, are a staple in all local bakeries in the Philippines.
Made with a simple batter of butter, sugar, eggs and flour; I would never forget running to a nearby village bakery and grab around 4 pieces of these little munchkins after playing with friends on the street.

Thanks to Tita Che for bringing me some at the office!
