Gearing up for our road trip!
Just roughly 8 hours after I landed in SFO, My sister Car and her boy Nate are getting ready to head over to Santa Rosa in the Sonoma area to catch the Santa Rosa Marathon tomorrow morning. Obviously I don't really do marathons since I prefer exercising in a controlled environment (and where no one's watching) but Nate is a pretty big fan of marathons so we tagged along for support!
Opting to spend the weekend in Santa Rosa so that we don't have to drive up at dawn, we headed over to Erik's Deli Cafe to pick up a couple of sandwiches to eat while on the road.
A very rustic, cowboy-cabin atmosphere
Although the the place was really cool to dine in,
we had to hit the road asap so we got sandwiches to-go!
With their sandwiches being extra huge, Car and I halved a Turkey Walnut Pesto
A generous serving of freshly roasted turkey breast slices, jack cheese, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, and a slather of walnut pesto aoili on a 9-grain wheat bread
Really happy that they were generous with the alfalfa sprouts
Added a really good crunch and freshness to the sandwich
I also ordered a small pasta salad
A melody of pasta twists, roasted bell peppers, olives, feta cheese, parmesan cheese, and a drizzle of very tangy (and somewhat mustardy-tart) dressing. This pasta salad would really wake up the senses with its very fresh, zesty flavors!
All set for our road-trip..
I can't wait to try out the other sandwiches Erik's has to offer!
