To celebrate our first night in Seoul, our friend turned Seoul tour guide Cha brought us to an authentic Korean grill in Sinchon.
It was really fun to take the train and head for Sinchon since it had an entirely different vibe from Myeondong. Being near several universities, Sinchon was a place where a lot of the young locals hung out so it was fun to get to experience how they roll at night..well at least for dinner haha!
I've seen these types of grills in Korean restaurants back home but never got to try it
I have to to say that those exhaust fans really do the job of keeping the smoke away!
I was amazed hahaha
All the goodies!
Meats!
Really liked the marinade on the meats...just the right amount of sweetness.
Ohh Kimchi!
Hot off the grill!
We first grilled the meats as they were given, in big portions. Once they're done, the table was provided with kitchen scissors to slice the meat into smaller pieces so that they're easier to wrap with the greens.
Once you're meats ready, you can start wrapping.
So with a piece of lettuce, you simply wrap up your beef with a little bit of sauce, a little kimchi, and some grilled veggies like the grilled onion I opted to put. YUM!
Soju
We also had some Soju which is a traditional Korean distilled liqueur. Its also made of rice, similar to sake. It tastes very much like vodka but with sweeter notes!
Great addition to our dining experience!
I've continuously said how much I want to go back to Seoul. One of the main reasons is to be able to go back to this. Not only was the cuisine fun and really delicious, but with a 9,000 won all you can eat deal, you simply can't go wrong. With a wide array of marinated meats, korean processed meats, and side dishes to choose from, you'd certainly want to come back for more!
