Ibis Hotel Myeondong

8am in Myeondong after a short flight from Manila, Im still listening to "Fly to Seoul" boom boom boom by 2pm! Can't believe we've finally arrived in Seoul!

Really excited to begin exploring Seoul, especially Myeondong, but since all stores are still closed, the boys and I headed to our hotel to check-in and have some breakfast. So first stop, Ibis Hotel!

Ibis was very easy to find and has a very accesible location in the heart of Myeondong. Right in front was the Lotte department store, the main Shinsegae Store was only three blocks away, and of course the famous shopping streets of Myeondong was just right beside the hotel entrance. Since check-in was still at 2pm, the boys and I headed to the 19th floor to La Table to try their breakfast buffet. We decided to treat ourselves since this was gonna be our first meal in Seoul.

First Plate
Smoked Salmon. Smoked Duck Fillet, Spring Vegetable Couscous, Creamy Sausage Salad and
Tomato Mozzarella Salad

Was trying to sample more of the salad portion to have a light breakfast. I really loved the smoked flavor of the duck and the texture was very soft and smooth. The combination of vegetables and raisins in the couscous was very interesting and delicious or the vegetables kept everything light and crisp while the sweetness from the raisins really made everything pop. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take a picture of the actual salmon platter but I must say they were very generous when it came to the salmon for the fillet of the meat was rather thicker than usual.

Second Plate
Sausage Links, Smoked Salmon. Chicken Teriyaki. Spicy Korean Noodles

I must say that they don't take the spicy work lightly for the noodles were truly spicy. The Korean noodles tasted much like the spices in Kimchi but the heat from this dish was on a whole other level (yet still enjoyable). The chicken teriyaki was also delicious for not only did it have the usual teriyaki sweetness, but there was a distinct taste of Korean spices that made the dish much more interesting. of course I just couldn't resist getting another helping of smoked salmon!

In case you happen to me in Seoul, the Ibis breakfast buffet is worth giving a try since not only are they very generous with their serving, but the food was very delicious and there's a wide array of breakfast food and traditional korean and asian dished that are also being served for breakfast. Also, if you're a guest at the hotel, you are entitled to a discount making the buffet only 15,000 won.

As for the hotel itself, I really enjoyed our stay here. The location was unbeatable and the price was worth paying for! Two Thumbs up! Here are some pictures of our room.

We opted for the Standard Twin Room

I must say, the bathroom was actually quite spacious (haha)

More on our trip in a bit...
