Tea Time at TWG

The latest talk of the town!

While I mostly opt to have coffee especially during weekdays since its the only drink that wakes me up (actually it has stopped working so any suggestions?), I truly admire the art of sipping tea. There is just something pure and pristine about tea that enjoying it is truly an art form.

Even the art of making tea is truly exquisite! Something I was lucky enough to experience when I was studying in Seoul. Just by learning the extra steps taken to be able to brew the perfect cup of tea just taught me to appreciate sipping tea even more.

So when TWG, a Singaporean franchise, opened its doors in Greenbelt 5, I immediately stood in line outside, waiting for about an hour and a half, just to experience what TWG is all about.

Such attention to detail..
Not even the glass windows are spared from the TWG monogram

Something which popped out of the tea list.. Earl Grey Chocolate Tea

A blend of early grey tea infused with bergamot, violet flowers, and cacao beans.
The bergamot gives the tea its lemony flavor while the cacao beans really make the tea smell like a cup of hot chocolate!

Foie Gras Terrine

Foie gras served with a light garden salad of baby spinach and red raddish, brioche, and Sakura! Jelly.
I enjoy foie gras however I found this a bit too rich. I find that the dish needed something sweet and fruity to balance the strong flavors of the foie gras which was missing from the garden salad.

Saute of Beef

TWG's version of a beef ragout infused with Singapore Breakfast Tea.
The dish had amazing flavors but we were distracted by how tough the beef was. A promising dish, perhaps it needs to be stewed rather than sauteed?

 Sweet Treats for our tea..
Canele. Madeleines. Macarons

The Canele, which are French pastries with a soft, custard center and a thick, cramelized exterior was our favorite from all the pastries we ordered. The Madeleines were rather disappointing because they were dry and chewy, a far cry from the soft, delicate, sponge cake that a Madeleine should be.

As for the tea infused macaron, they had the perfect texture and crumble with tea infusions that truly kept things interesting. Our favorite was the lemon bush tea!

the treats were served with clotted cream (inside the fancy silver dish haha) and tea jelly.
The combination of light, clotted cream and tea jelly really brightened up the pastries and made them more heavenly than they were already are.

Before I forget, the teapots come in a magnificent metal shell that keeps the heat inside the kettle.
Worked perfectly in keeping our tea hot, as well as a really good mirror for selcas haha!

All in all, our TWG experience was definitely a treat! Even if some of our treats left us a bit dismayed, our visit makes me curious of the other specials that TWG has to offer.

Perhaps a perfect excuse to visit their Singapore branch?

Sounds like a plan!
