umami (うま味) meaning "pleasant savory taste"

A trip to SFO is never complete without meeting my cousins Mark and Camille along with their significant others Lexie and Neil. Before my sister got her condo, I would usually stay with my aunt which gave me a lot of opportunity to spend time with my cousins even if it was just watching replays of Keeping Up with the Kardashians on tv.

Now, it takes a little bit of effort for us to get together especially since everyone is now working but we always make it a point to see each other no matter what. That effort is definitely worth it because we get to do our favorite bonding thing which is to try all the latest restaurant, cafeterias, eatery, etc. within the neighborhood (or even outside the area!). There's nothing like sharing new experiences with close friends and at the same time catch up with whats happening with everyone!

For this trip, my cousins specifically wanter to take me and my sister to Umami Burger over at downtown San Francisco. He's tried it only once, making my visit a perfect excuse to try their other offerings haha

Umami Burger's distinctive logo which you would find even imprinted on top of the buns!

Truffle Fries
Luscious truffle cheese topped on perfectly cooked french fries!
(perfect fried for me are those that are slightly crunchy on the outside but have a soggy texture within)
a must try!!!

Umami Burger's homemade dressing to accompany your fries and burgers
Wasabi Ranch. Chili Diablo. Aioli

Our favorite hands down was the Wasabi Ranch for having a fresh kick but not being overly spicy from the wasabi.

Umami Burger also makes their own ketchup which is the best!
Slightly sweeter than your usual store bought tomato ketchup

Galbi Burger

Forever the Korean fan, I just had to order the Umami Burger special which was the Galbi Burger.
Trademark Umami Burger patty marinated and glazed with homemade bulgogi sauce topped with kimchi, onion crips, and a touch of spring onion.

Perfectly cooked and perfectly Korean

Umami Burger was able to blend their burger with Korean influences with truly is a masterpeice.
The dish had the right amount of Korean flare without making you forget that you're still eating a burger.

Two Thumbs up!!!!

While my cousins went with other meat variants, my sister who is forever the health buff, ordered the Umami Veggie Burger

Grilled Portobello Mushroom topped with shitake mushrooms, caramelized onions, roasted tomatoes, parmesan crisp, and then smothered with Umami Ketchup.

You'd forget theres absolutely no meat in this burger!

Also, the homemade umami ketchup was a pleasant burst of sweetness which balanced out the strong flavors of the mushrooms and onions.

For dessert..
Umami's Decosntructed Ice Cream Sandwich
served with their very own white chocolate chip macadamia cookie and homemade vanilla gelato

Umami Burger's Maple Bacon Pecan Pie

Traditional flavors of Pecan Pie made more interesting with the addition of maple bacon crisps incorporated into the pie filling.

I really liked the smokey flavor that the maple bacon added to the pie

I must say, Umami Burger is by far the best burger place I have tried to date!
Truly imaginative!

We have to visit this place again real soon!
