Brunch at Marche 313 @Somerset

A hybrid between a cafe and a marketplace, executed beautifully with a European flare.

As we planned to spend the day getting lost around Orchard Road, Pam suggested that we have brunch at Marche. A very interesting concept, Marche may look like your typical buffet, but instead of paying a set price tor the entire feast, Marche gives you the chance to select your favorite dish and only pay for what you have ordered.

Upon entering, the matre'd immediately hands guests with a card which would be your meal ticket around the restaurant. You are then transported to a marketplace setup with a Swiss Alpine Village theme. The entire place is broken down into several parts, your cold cuts station, bread and pizza station, drinks station, chocolate and desserts station, carving station, and of course, the Roesti station.

Line up at your desired section, place your order, present your card to the server or chef, and then wait until you order is up. Marche is basically like your highschool cafeteria, but with finer interiors and fresh, top quality food. A far cry from fish sticks and chicken tenders!

Unfortunately, Marche is not very open to picture taking of the food stalls which I do understand since you simply must experience the place for yourself.

Upon entering, Pam and I immediately lined up for the carving and Roesti stations.

Rib Eye Steaks and Roesti topped with Raclette .

The Raclette was a special request which they kind chefs of Marche granted us. Thanks to Pam for the suggestion.

The roesti was beautfully golden and crips, with the potatoes roughly grated which is the traditional way of making roesti.

The meat selection at Marche is excellent! My rib-eye was tender and marbled with just the right amount of fat. The chef also did a great job grilling it perfectly medium.

Although there were a lot of other interesting dishes to try, our first order was delicious but definitely filling. Pam was right when she said that it would take several visits to try everything in Marche.

I went straight to dessert after and ordered a crepe.

Today's special was Banana Crepes with Homemade Butterscotch.

I like how Marche cooks their crepes with a slight crunchy exterior. The homemade butterscotch was also the perfect pairing for the bananas without making the dish overly sweet.

Truly an awesome place for brunch! But now I would have to ask for one size up as we shop around Orchard :(

Have a great Saturday!
