Brunch at Founder Ba... umm... so how do you spell it??
hmm...lets just go with Bak Kut Teh..
As it turns out, Balestier Road is known as Singapore's Bak Kut Teh Street. Since my hotel was just a block away from the Bak Kut Teh strip where about 6 Bak Kut Teh stores are lined up in, Pam suggested that we have Bak Kut Teh for brunch before spending another day wandering about Singapore.

My Bak Kut Teh meal!
Originally from China, this simple yet flavorful meat-bone soup has found its way to the tastebuds of Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan. Although it looks alot like the nilaga back home which is our take on the meat-bone soup which we popularly serve during gatherings such as Noche Buena for our family, Bak Kut Teh is actually a popular breakfast meal for Singaporeans. They believe that this herbal infused to soup gives enough energy to survive a full work day.
Bak Kut Teh
We opted to have the Teochew style which is considered the "clearer version" because the Hokkien style has darker properties due to the addition of Soy.
With the owner's of Founder Bak Kuh Teh being a pig farmer back in the day, he assures his clients that only the best choices of meat are used in making their famous Bak Kut Teh.
Founder's uses their own, unique blend of spices (which they sell packets of btw) which give the clear broth a wonderful explosion of flavor which is then infused further with lost of pepper, giving the broth its sharp, slightly spicy taste which lingers in your mouth.
Bak Kut Teh may look like a very simple meat-bone soup, but it is definitely not boring!
Youtiao
This deep fried bread stick, which almost has the same consistency as a doughnut, it the perfect dipper for Bak Kut Teh. The bread just soaks up all the wonderful flavors of the Bak Kut Teh broth better than rice. But of course you still must enjoy this dish with a cup of rice haha!
Lime Juice
Tangy Lime Juice (I think its made of calamansi) is best enjoyed with Bak Kut Teh because it helps in cleaning your palette from the taste of the rich bak kut teh broth.
The Singaporean's were right by enjoying Bak Kut Teh as their breakfast food for this meal keeps you filled, happily satisifes, and armed for all the activities the day has lined up ahead.
Hmmm..I'm curious... what about Bak Kut Teh for an after party pick me up in the wee hours of the morning??
Sounds like a plan for next time!
