Sensei

The last stop of our food adventure..

Being another highly recommended establishment by netizens and food columnists, we all made sure to leave some space for Sensei!

A quaint, 20 seater restaurant; Sensei has definitely become a place that diners don't mind queuing for just to be able to eat at.

 Our sushi sampler

Although Sensei is also known for other Asia-Fusion dishes, we opted to stick with the sushi rolls since our group was starting to get full from all the eating we've been doing..

 and then some..

 Dynamite Roll

A tuna filled roll with a deep friend scallop "bomb" (as my friends called it) on top.

 Crispy Philly

A salmon and cream cheese roll made interesting with a drizzle of unagi and garlic sauce. I did like the addition of unagi and garlic sauce because it helped cut through the richness of the cream cheese.

 Spicy Tuna Roll

Although some said that this could have used more heat, I actually liked that it had just the right kickof heat because it allowed you taste all the flavors of the roll without having the urge to just swallow it whole because it was too spicy. I mean you could always add more wasabi to it on your plate anyway.

Actually forgot the name of this one.. but if I remember correctly this was Korean inspired which was one of the main reasons why we order it. Go figure..

The rollwas filled with a cool, refreshing mix of radishes and cucumber which was then topped of with tuna and a little drizzle of teriyaki/bulgogi sauce and Japanese mayo.

I may not remember the name..but I do remember that it was one good sushi roll!

Tempura

Sensei made a a really cool twist on their tempura by keeping the heads of the shrimp attached. I was excited for this since I do like scooping out the contents of the head when eating shrimp.

Gotta give a round of applause to Chef Bruce Ricketts for perfecting Asian-Fusion cuisine. Asian-fusion has been a go-to trend in terms of cuisine here Manila that it got so common and somehow complicated, people started searching for the classic, non-fusion dishes.

However, Sensei breaks apart from the typical Asian-Fusion, being able to meld unique flavors together beautifully and adding a new, modern touch to dishes which we haven't seen before. Another good note is that Sensei is truly a value for your buck, actually even more. We were truly surprised by the affordable prices on their menu.

Can't wait to have more of Sensei's sushi as well as try out their other dishes!
