Midweek Napa Break

It been a while since we saw the sun so bright..

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to get a visit from one of our family's closest friends, Tita Liza.

It all began back in highschool when I became good friends with Isha and then met her mom, Tita Liza. It was the usual story or her mom meets my mom, and then my family meets her family, and before you know it, years pass and we've been close ever since.

Going back, since Tita Liza was already familiar with the city, we decided to take her Napa since she hasn't been there before. Being friends with my mom, I knew she'd love Napa since if there's one thing I know about my mom's friends, its that they love wine (and other forms of alcohol lol).

It was perfect since the city was getting pretty gloomy the past weeks and Napa was still experiencing a little bit of summer.

Our first stop of course had to be Sattui Winery

A favorite of my family, Sattui may not be a vineyard, but the selection of wines under the Sattui brand is just amazing that a bottle of Sattui wine always sets the standard for us.

A little wine tasting to help use choose which bottle to buy

 A sip of Madeira

I really liked how this 120 year old wine has a smokey, caramel-toffee flavor. It was just like eating a caramel lollipop. Perfect for dessert!

Then it was time for lunch

Luckily Gott's Roadside, originally Taylor's Refresher, was just down the road.

 White Pistacio

A refreshing vanilla milkshake made more interesting with the inclusion of pistachios into the mix

 Can never have enough fries!

Generously garlicky garlic fries with parsley and sweet potato fries with homemade ranch

 Western Bacon Blue Ring

an awesome, all beef patty topped with bacon, crumbled bleu cheese, pickles, red onion, bbq sauce, and one large, deepfried onion ring.

Was really amazed by this burger. Luckily my cousin said I didn't have to go all the way to Napa since there was Gott's in Palo Alto. But then again, maybe it was also the Napa air which made this burger taste soo good lol.

After lunch, we took a stroll around the St. Helena Town Square
 Swan Gourds

Too pretty to eat.. imagine having this on your porch during Halloween night instead of a carved pumpkin lol

and then from Wine tasting we moved on to Olive Oil Tasting..

Of course a Napa trip also wouldn't be complete without stopping at Dean and Deluca

 My favorite Valrhona Chocolate Gelato

Hope you enjoyed our little Napa getaway Tita Liza!
