While spending the entire afternoon researching for new ideas and inspirations, I stumbled upon two interesting words from a cooking forum.. "sticky sausage". Foregoing the green puns, the recipe basically involved italian sausages and over roasting them with onions, balsamic vinegar, and grapes to give them the sweet, sticky sauce.
Since the forum kept going on and on about searing the sausages first stovetop and then placing them in a roasting pan and then placing in the oven for a half hour.. it seemed to be too much effort for just sausages. I figured I could take the basics and turn it into a 20 minute version which doesn't require turning on the oven and washing more than one pan.
Sausages and Grapes
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups seedless grapes, halved
3 pieces hot italian sausage
3 pieces kelbasa
4 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup dry red wine
Olive oil
PROCEDURE:

Sausages and Grapes
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups seedless grapes, halved
3 pieces hot italian sausage
3 pieces kelbasa
4 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup dry red wine
Olive oil
PROCEDURE:
-get the garlic sauteeing in a little bit of olive oil and splash of the balsamic vinegar
-when the onions have become translucent and slightly caramelized, add in the sliced sausages
-drizzle in the red wine to deglaze the pan
-toss in the grapes
-place the lid of the pan and let the sausages and grapes simmer for about 15 minutes on medium heat until the grapes are tender
-Plate and enjoy!
Although you could use any sausage, my sister and I really liked the smokey, spicy flavors of the Italian sausage against the sweet, sticky flavors of the balsamic, caramelized onions, and grapes.
Pretty happy by how things turned out. But I'm happier because I only have to wash one pan and not a roasting pan lol!
Have a good night!
