Art Appreciation Day in Hongdae

Hongik University
(Hongdae- Hongik Daehakgyo)
Seoul's top school for fine arts and design

For todays trip, our purpose was to get cultured and to have a day filled with art appreciation

First stop of course was Hongik University..
where else would we learn art but from Seoul's top art school!

Hongik's Design Mall
Filled with various stores owned by the university's alumni

Art Lesson: Pottery Painting

My work of art

Inspired by Korea's Cherry Blossoms
(even if we weren't they we're no longer in season when we got here :( )

With our art instructor and one of the owners of Claypop

One of Hongdae Area's urban shopping streets!

Now to play around inside the Trick-Eye Museum!

That explains a lot about that famous painting! haha!

My mom would kill me if I did that to one of the paintings in our house!

Trick Eye Museum is supposedly a favorite place of one of Korea's top young star..

if its good enough for him then its good enough for me! :D

For tonight's dinner: Korean Chicken Wings!!

Of course this was one dish that we definitely had to have while in Korea!

Kyochon, a famous restaurant chain not just in Seoul but all over the world
serves up a variety of chicken wings that range from simply seasoned with salt and pepper up to the super, tear-causing, spicy variant!

Kyochon is also famous for using the Korean frying technique in which the chicken wings are double-fried, creating a better crunch!

Kyochon's Endorsers

Nothing like beer and cola to pair with some wings!

Our first round: the deadly spicy chicken wings

Very tasty, these wings would definitely make your face red!

Second Round:The original, seasoned with salt and pepper

a good break from all the spice..
but we did end up getting another order of the spicy one just heat things up again!

Some pickled radish which Kyochon serves to cool down the heat of the wings
A very good accompaniment with the chicken!

Now off to explore the streets of Hongdae which are even more interesting at night!
