Climbing Seoraksan

We have finally arrived!

After a 4 hour bus ride, we have finally made it to Seoraksan!

With our cable car ride up the mountain scheduled for later in the afternoon
our group opted to have lunch first then  a stroll around the park area
followed by a quick visit to buddha's temple.

Our chosen restaurant located right inside the park

Sanchae Bibimbap

Trying to be one with the locals, our group ordered Sanchae Bibimbap

Unlike the usual bibimbap we are normally accustomed to, Sanchae Bibimbap has no meat at all!
Rather than having beef or pork, Sanchae Bibimbap is overloaded with mountain vegetables and wild herbs, keeping things more natural and in line with customary temple food.

Since we are one a relaxing hiking trip, might as well give it a try!

I made up for the not meat by adding a lot of gochujang (don't tell!)

I must say that this is a perfect dish for a hike because the herbs and mountain vegetable gives you so much energy. Even if it is served with a cup full of rice, the dish seemed to be a very light lunch, filling us just enough and preparing us for the hike ahead.

Now for a few pictures of our hike...

Seoraksan Buddha

a flowing river...very picturesque
(and very rocky??)

Fresh water from Seoraksan mountain
One must always cleanse before entering the temple!

Colorful lanterns covered the entire park in anticipation of Buddha's Birthday

Buddha's Temple
Such a peaceful site
(well it was peaceful right before we entered..woops!)

After a quick cable car ride, and a few more minutes of uphill hiking..
we were able to reach to the top of the mountain!

Everything was simple breathtaking!

A really beautiful place to be one with nature!
