Sanmotoonge Gallery Cafe

A Korean (Drama) Institution

A popular cafe for locals, Sanmotoonge Gallery Cafe's rise to fame was due to the
popular 2007 Korean drama "Coffee Prince" in which the cafe was used as one of the main sets of the drama. If I got it right, its supposedly the main characters house in the drama-- can anyone confirm?

Right after our magnificent mandu dinner, our host wanted to show us a special cafe reserved for date night with her husband. It so happens that the cafe was the Sanmotoonge! Being tourists, all of us immediately got excited, even if none of us really watched the drama. Just by the fact that a drama was shot here was a good enough excuse to go crazy!

Every corner of the cafe was filled with memorabilias from the drama

Even kitchen fridge was covered with pictures from the drama!

more pictures..

A multi-level establishment on top of a hill,
the basement of the cafe mainly houses furniture and other props used in Coffee Prince!
Forgive my pictures for they were taken discretely since camera's were supposedly not allowed inside..

still ever so popular, Sanmotoonge is still a popular place for dramas to be shot in.

The cafe's main bar and order station
found on the first floor of the building right by the entrance.

Hot Chocolate
Done espresso style, Sanmotoonge's hot chocolate is very smooth and milky with a very rich chocolate taste. Definitely not hot chocolate out of a packet with marshmallows!

Iced Cafe Latte
One things for sure, Sanmotoonge definitely serves good coffee!
Cafe Latte's have a tendency to be too milky at times but Sanmotoonge's had just the right balance of milk, coffee, and syrup.

Wild Berry Cheesecake
A traditional baked cheesecake made with a twist!
The usual graham cracker crust was replaced by a rich and somewhat dense spongecake which I really liked because it gave the cake a very smooth texture all throughout.

The hike up the hill was definitely worth it!
