the sight of these space-saucer looking tables always get me excited
because they only mean one thing...
D.I.Y cooking!
As we make our way towards Nami Island
(the filming location of the legendary Korean Telenovela "Winter Sonata")
our group made a pitstop in Chunchon, the capital of Gangwon Province, for lunch.
Our Lunch.. Dak Galbi
a Korean stir-fry of spicy chicken marinated with gochujang
married with sliced cabbage, potato, scallions, and tteok (korean rice cake)
A spicy and delicious dish which originated from Chuncheon..
Dak Galbi is definitely a must try when visiting Korea!
Now, Dak Galbi is very popular that you don't have to take a 2 hour trip to Chuncheon
for Myeondong has its very own Dakgalbi street which offers, of course, Dakgalbi!
Once the pan starts to heat up and the cabbage begins to sizzle..
our server begins tossing the Dakgalbi
All mixed up
With Dakgalbi, one can immediately enjoy the dish right when the chicken is cooked..
But from what I was told, the key with Dakgalbi is letting it continue to slowly simmer in low heat
for the dish gets more intense the longer it sits on the heat
giving you a different flavor in every bite (also getting spicier by the minute! Yum!)
The perfect point to enjoy Dakgalbi
The Chicken is thoroughly cooked and the vegetables have wilted..just perfection!
Officially my favorite dish during this trip!!
Off to Nami Island!
Here are some pics from our afternoon in Nami..
