Sala Thai

trying to spice up the usual weekend brunch..

Since we were unusually up bright and early on a Saturday morning, my sister and I decided to why not break another common practice and that instead of having a lazy brunch with the usual fare of egs benedict, that we would head out for some Thai cusine. Something new and different, I said why not? So after getting ready we made our way to the nearest Thai restaurant we knew which also happened to be one of the most highly recommended restaurants in the area, Sala Thai.

Brunch is not complete without a festive drink. In this case it was Thai Tea. Yum!

 Kao Pad Kra Pow

Also known as Basil Fried Rice. A spicy, stir-fried dish mixed with beef, onion, bell pepper, and of course basil. So good on its own, I can eat bowls and bowls of this without complaining. Although it may look like your typical Asian fried rice, Sala Thai's Kao Pad Kra Pow had a unique sweet, salty, rich flavor that is distinctly Thai which makes it all the more hard to resist another helping.

 Panang Chicken Curry

A mild red curry with coconut milk mixed with string beans, bell pepper, and basil.

Next to Italian, I think Thai is is one cuisine which uses the most basil in their dishes. And who could blame them since basil adds this intriguing sweet flavor to curry and makes it even more fragrant.

The Panang Curry had a very sweet, mellow flavor with just a hint of heat to the tongue which went perfectly drizzled on top of the Kao Pad Kra Pow.

and for dessert, Roti

Deep fried pieces of roti drizzle with condensed milk and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

A very simple dessert but still hella good!

Boy am I thankful that I woke up early today lol. Have a good weekend everyone!
