Who say's you can't have ice cream for breakfast??
Its day 2 in Kansas and my sister and I were in the mood for a "light" breakfast since we were still pretty full from our amazing barbecue dinner.
So for breakfast, we decided on trying another must while in Kansas and that was Sheridan's Frozen Custard.
Being named a "Must Try" in almost all the maps and pamphlets we found in Kansas, we immediately when in search for the nearest Sheridan's we could find.
Sheridan's Wall of Elements
Buck-A-Roo and Royal Turtle
The Buck-A-Roo starts with a vanilla frozen custard topped with fresh strawberries, bananas, and hot fudge sauce while the Royal Turtle is topped off with roasted pecans, cherries, caramel and hot fudge sauce.
With Sheridan's being my first frozen custard, I find frozen custard to be somewhat like a soft serve ice cream with a much more velvety, rich consistency. It is reminiscent to the richness of ice cream and gelato however not churned fully, giving the custard a much more smoother and somewhat runny consistency than that of ice cream and gelato.
With the very smooth, rich flavors of the vanilla custard, I liked the Buck-A-Roo the best because it was a right balance of something sweet and something fresh brough about by the strawberries and bananas. And of course who doesnt like hot fudge sauce?
It was actually a good idea we got these two since the Royal Turtle satisfies your playful, chocolate craving mixed with crunchy nuts while the Buck-A-Roo gives you that spoonful of freshness when the other gets too sweet.
Another Kansas favorite that is one for the books!
