Wicked Spoon

  Totally Wicked

Since Mom, Dad, and Mama we're all flying in from Manila to attend their grade school reunion in Las Vegas (yes my dad and grandmother went to the same school), Car and I tagged along so that we also get to spend some time with them while their here in the US.

Right before we flew to Vegas, my cousins insisted that we try Wicked Spoon which is supposedly the must-try buffet at the moment. Luckily Dad got excited after we told him about Wicked Spoon that we immediately headed over to the Cosmopolitan for dinner after getting settled in our hotel room.

First plate: Meats from the east and west lol

Lechon Macau. Korean Bbq Short Ribs. Mexican Pulled Pork Taco

My favorite had to be the Lechon Macau. Can never go wrong with the combination of something sweet, something crunchy, and something full of fat!!

Second Plate: A supposedly healthy plate

Oyster Rockefeller. Bleu Cheese Grits. Herb Crusted Tomato. and Sauteed Sunchoke with Black Truffles.

Although it was my first time having it, I particularly liked the sunchoke for its unique flavor and crisp, firm texture. Also known as the Jerusalem Artichoke which is a species of the Sunflower, the sunchoke is a part of the stem of the plant which gives it a very firm bite. Mixed with black truffle shavings, one can never resist the flavor of black truffle lol

Third Plate: Carving Station

Roasted bone marrow with sea salt and the carving with a little bit of horseradish

Although they were all promising, both the bone marrow and the carving lacked flavor. I was also hoping that they placed some crusty bread or crackers to eat with the bone marrow. I went hunting around the entire buffet but couldn't find any.

4th Plate: Giving the carving station another try

Doing a complete 180, the roast chicken was beautifully roasted with the meat moist and tender. More importantly, the chicken was perfectly seasoned and was full of flavor. A perfect pairing for the rich, creamy gnocchi with bacon and peas.

Final Plate: Dessert

Chocolate Covered Strawberries. Hazelnut Gelato. Mango Marshmallows. Coconut Macaroons. Flourless Chocolate Cake

Surprisingly, my favorite has to be the mango mashmallows because they just soft and light like biting into pillowy clouds bursting with fresh mango flavor.

Overall, Wicked Spoon was wickedly awesome in terms of affordability since they do serve some fresh ideas that one doesn't usually find in a buffet at a very affordable price. Although I did admire the effort in diversity, Wicked Spoon needs to keep closer attention to flavor since some key dishes which everyone I believe was looking forward too such as the carving, was lacking in flavor. But putting those aside, Wicked Spoon is still one place you have to try when hitting up Vegas.

Hope you're having an awesome Friday!
