Father's Day 2013

Whipping up something for dad at home!

After a hectic yet fun filled day that we had yesterday preparing for the fantastic send-off dinner my parents threw me last night, Dad preferred to have a relaxed dinner at home to celebrate Father's Day. Luckily Sher and I had a few tricks up our sleeve!

Brie en Croute

One of the most simple yet elegant appetizer that one could make.

Its so simple.. here's how you could make your own..

Brie en Croute

Ingredients:
1 Package Phyllo Dough
1 Small wheel of Brie (or maybe 2 lol)
4 tbsp melted butter
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp sugar
1 egg beaten

Procedure:

-Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
-Combine butter, cinnamon, and sugar in a small bowl

-Brush brie with cinammon-sugar-butter mixture and set aside

-Lay out 2 to 3 sheets of phyllo dough and place "marinated" brie in the center

-Gather phyllo to the center to make a rosette top

-Place brie en croute on a butter baking dish and brush with egg wash (beaten egg with a little water)

-Bake brie en croute for 20 minutes or until phyllo is golden brown.

-Devour!

You may also serve the brie en croute with a side of honey or fruit preserve.
Always a hit whenever we make it!
