Turkey Burgers

Sooo beefy, you'd forget it's turkey!!

So maybe the pun sounded better in my head..
But this experiment turned out to be an instant favorite!

Here's my take on trying to make a healthy burger alternative..

TURKEY BURGERS

INGREDIENTS:
1 pound ground turkey

1 large portobello mushroom, finely chopped

1 scallions, minced

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 egg

Salt and Pepper

Sourdough Buns

 Fresh Spinach leaves

1 avocado, thinly sliced

 Garlic Mayo

Swiss Cheese, thin slices

PROCEDURE:

-get your fresh ground turkey meat ready

You and also use ground turkey, whichever is available. But I do find turkey to have a beefier taste and texture than chicken

-add in the chopped portobello, scallion, egg, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper

-Mix with your hands until well incorporated

Do not over-mix/ over-handle the meat coz it would result to a denser patty.

-the mixture is good for 4 large patties

-grill on a preheat hot stove top grill or even at outdoor grill

make sure to cook the patty all the way through since this is poultry

-prepare your bun by lightly toasting it and smearing a little it of garlic mayo

-place a thin layer of spinach on top of the mayo

-once the pattie is almost done, about 8 minutes per side, top the burger with a slice of swiss cheese to get it a little melted

-finish of with avocado slices

I even shocked myself by how good this turned out lol! The mushrooms gave the patty a deeper, beefy flavour mixed against the lighter, much delicate taste of the turkey. Mixed with the freshness of creamy avocado and crisp spinach. The garlic mayo also did a great job adding the right, subtle zing to tie everything together.

It was a good idea I made 4 patties.. two for me and two for everyone else lol
