Palace of the Popes
All good things must come to an end :(
With all the exciting and spectacular locations that we have been too during this trip, there was no better way to end our cruise but by visiting the peaceful and serene sights of Avignon and Les Baux.
What I admired about the Palace of the Popes was that despite its recent restoration which took its interior design to a more minimalist and modern era, the structures and scale of the buildings still makes you feel a center form of grandeur without the need of over embellishments.
Some parts of the Palace however did maintain its intricate wall and ceilings design such as what we saw inside the Pope's private quarters however photo taking was prohibited..
a perfect excuse for you to visit Avignon and experience it yourself ;)
Then at noon we arrived at Les Baux
I have mixed feelings about this lavender liqueur...
On the bright side, at least you'd smell very fragrant even when dead drunk..
Paninis, Gelato, and Crepes for lunch!
Sister eagerly waiting for her Nutella crepe
My sister's hundredth crepe during this entire trip!
Who could blame her, they were all soo good!
Who could blame her, they were all soo good!
My Steak and Tomato footlong sandwich
No fuss panini..
Just a really good cut of steak and tomatoes!
My apologies for not having more pictures of the scenic Les Baux..
I was already feeling really under the weather this morning that the chilly breeze while on top of Les Baus really didn't help. So while others were clicking away with their cameras, I was busy looking for seats under the sun! The first time I truly appreciated the heat of the sun!!
Of course one cannot leave the South of France without having Bouillabaisse!
Had a hearty serving of bouillabaisse back on board the ship while trying to keep the sniffles away..
Might skip tonights festivities and get complete bed rest..
We have one more stop after all!
