Sorrento.Positano.Pompei

They really take their tanning seriously..

We're officially under the Tuscan sun, day 1!

Their no fuss, no muss take on beach clubs..
What else do you need really aside from the beach and a couple of changing rooms?

Finally got to enjoy this with the family

aside from the charming sights and architectures of Sorrento,
make sure to walk around the side streets where a lot of little shops are truly worth visiting.

You'll truly go crazy admiring stores filled with murano glass and of course fine Italian leather goods at bargain prices!!

(if you didn't notice..that is the reason why we only have a couple of shots from Sorrento..)

Positano for lunch

Al Fresco dining right beside the street..
I wonder if the diners get nervous whenever a car passes by...

our stop for lunch

the view from our table

Amazing bread and table wine!

Simplicity at its best!
Bruschetta

our host for lunch

 Pomodoro e Mozzarella

Scialatielli Ai Frutti Di Mare
Homemade pasta with an assortment of shellfish

Scialatielli Alla Costantino
Homemade pasta marinara served with Eggplant and Cheese dumplings

Although all the dishes were superb..this has to be at the top of the list!

Pizza Bread

Simply put, toasted pizza crust topped with sea salt and pepper
Strangely addicting, we all certainly enjoyed pulling a piece from this pizza and enjoying it with our nth pitcher of wine as we waited for dessert..

and for dessert, an assortment of cakes

A fruit creme tart with a nut-cookie crust

My favorite..
Lemon Spongecake with a very light buttercream frosting

and of course..
Limoncello to cleanse the palette!

That is what I truly admire about Italian cooking for which simplicity is key. It is all about using quality ingredients which makes the simplest dishes stand out from the rest. A simple salad of tomato, basil, and mozzarella would just be a plate of chopped veggie and cheese if not highlighted with some really good olive oil! Italian cuisine really teaches you how to start from the basics and to always highlight the honesty of each ingredient. No need to make things complicated.

Next, the ruins of Pompei..

Another day, another journey awaits...
