"Aloha Cuisine" with the cousins..
Since my cousins and I now have an unspoken rule of seeing each other at least once a week.. we opted to try something new. For tonights dinner we headed over to Hukilau in Japan Town! Forgive my ignorance, but this is the first time I've ever heard of Japan town which got me really excited haha!
Kalua Fries
Shredded kalua pork served fried and then topped with mounds of melted cheese!
The star of this appetizer has to be the kalua pork which was amazingly tender and had just the right amount of flavor without being too overpowering unlike other french fry dishes in which the smorgasbord of toppings which makes one forget that they're still eating fries..
My dinner which most of us had..
A Big plate of Hukilau Chicken, Rice, and Macaroni Salad
Tender slices of chicken, lightly battered, fried, and then tossed in their special teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds! An amazing take on hawaiian barbecue capturing the sweet and tangy flavors of traditional hawaiian grill.
To balance the sweetness..a small bowl of Kimchi for me!
Definitely enjoyed our taste of "Aloha Cuisine" for Hukilau did an amazing take of Hawaiian fusion by keeping things young and modern with hints of traditional hawaiian flavors!
Till the nest cousin adventure!
